Position Title: Grants and Partnerships Ambassador - Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs - Intern

 

Role Summary:

Join the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs in Washington D.C. as an Intern, supporting the Grants and Partnership Specialist in streamlining and promoting the grants program. This role will have the opportunity to practice business/project management and interorganizational development skills while amplifying the great work of the organizations that this office directly supports.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Analysis: Assist the Grants and Partnership Specialist in tracking grant deliverables (workplans, budget meetings, report submissions), providing insights and summaries for relevant information.

 

Social Media Engagement: Curate and suggest content ideas from social media platforms that align with the goals of MOLGBTQA’s Community Grants program, contributing to content creation and strategy development.

 

Database Development: Support the Grants and Partnership Specialist in expanding the partnership databases by researching and identifying potential funding opportunities aligned with the office's objectives and initiatives.

 

Collaborative Support: Assist in fostering connections with government agencies and community organizations, aiding in the establishment and maintenance of partnerships to advance the office's goals.

 

Communication Support: Aid in creating effective communication materials, such as briefings, articles, and social media posts to convey the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs' mission, values, and initiatives.

 

Evaluation and Adaptation: Participate in assessing the effectiveness of grant management activities, contributing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Experience: Pursuing or completing a degree in public relations, business, or a related field with a keen interest in LGBTQ issues and advocacy.

 

Project Management: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, enthusiasm, and integrity skills.

 

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an understanding of effective communication principles and methods.

 

Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail.

 

Research Skills: Proficiency in searching for new funding and partnership opportunities.

 

Team Collaboration: Capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and individuals, fostering positive relationships and contributing to shared objectives.
