The Annual 17th Street High Heel Race is a time to celebrate the diversity of DC's LGBTQ+ community and join thousands of costumed spectators to cheer on costumed drag queens, drag kings, and community members as they race down 17th Street NW. Lively and filled with drag entertainment, a parade, and much more, you won't want to miss this DC tradition!
A part of the 17th High Heel Race tradition includes a human barrier that separates spectators from racers and the parade. We are in need of volunteers for the High Heel Race, your role will be a Human Barrier, which provides that separation in the 2025 17th Street High Heel Race!
Human Barrier Volunteers will need to meet on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 6:45 PM at 1519 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20036 (JR's Bar) before activation for the event. Volunteers will be needed from 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Volunteers will be a barrier for the parade and the official High Heel Race down 17th Street. After the race, the volunteers are welcome to enjoy the after-party programming, which includes performances & entertainment!
