Join the DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Southeast Library to learn about how you can get involved in Capitol Hill and across the river in Ward 8! DCTMI aims to provide elementary, middle and high school students with tutors and mentors and encourage people to take a more active role in their community.
Details. With local partners like For Love of Children, College Bound, and Reading Partners, DCTMI aims to support students at Tyler Elementary School as well as at Malcom X Elementary in Ward 8 who need extra help.
Volunteer. Whether you have just enough time for a quick chat, or are curious to have more in-depth questions answered, we're here to help you become a more involved member of your community! Volunteer to become a tutor or mentor for an average of 1-2 hours a week to a student nearby. We encourage capable volunteers to strongly consider volunteering across the river in Ward 8, where the highest needs for tutoring and mentoring are.
Community. DCTMI also encourages you to see this as an opportunity to strengthen our community's social and educational fabrics. It takes a village - or neighborhood - to raise a child, and this is one way to get involved!
