Who We Are

Housing Up builds thriving communities in Washington, DC by developing affordable housing and offering comprehensive support services to formerly homeless and low-income families. We are a nonprofit affordable housing developer and services provider dedicated to ending family homelessness and advancing long-term economic stability. We serve close to 600 families: 390 families in permanent supportive housing (PSH) and 150 families in affordable rental housing with resident services. For more than three decades, Housing Up has partnered with families experiencing homelessness to create pathways to stable housing and self-sufficiency. We have developed 667 units of affordable housing in the District and have 320 additional units in our pipeline.

What We Do

Our service model is rooted in the understanding that housing is the foundation for opportunity. We develop and preserve high-quality, service-enriched affordable housing and pair it with comprehensive, on-site supports that address the root causes of housing instability. By embedding services where families live, we reduce barriers to access, strengthen trust, and create a stable platform from which parents and children can thrive. Housing Up takes a holistic approach - addressing housing, healthcare, childcare, education, and economic mobility - to ensure families not only remain housed but build lasting resilience.
