Who We Are

Mission Statement

A Few Good MENtors, Inc. exists to empower young men aged 8-21 through consistent mentorship, fostering growth in character, leadership, and life skills. Guided by our core values of spirituality, health, integrity, leadership, development, and stewardship (S.H.I.E.L.D.S.), we aim to inspire young men to realize their full potential and become positive contributors to their families, communities, and future generations.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where every young man has access to a committed mentor who nurtures their growth, instills values, and prepares them for lifelong success. Through mentorship and a focus on personal development, A Few Good MENtors seeks to transform communities by creating confident, capable, and compassionate leaders who pay it forward.

History Statement

Founded in 2019 by Michael R. Morgan, A Few Good MENtors, Inc. began as a vision to address the growing need for positive male role models in the lives of young men. Inspired by the foundational principles instilled by his parents and siblings, Michael brought over three decades of federal leadership and mentoring experience to the organization. What started as a small initiative has since grown into a thriving nonprofit serving boys and young men in multiple communities. Through innovative programs, consistent guidance, and a steadfast commitment to core values, A Few Good MENtors continues to impact lives and build brighter futures.

What We Do

Message: How A Few Good MENtors, Inc. Achieves Its Mission and Vision

At A Few Good MENtors, Inc., our mission to empower young men and our vision of building confident, capable leaders are realized through intentional programs and impactful activities.

Mentorship Programs:

We provide consistent, one-on-one mentoring relationships tailored to the unique needs of boys aged 8-21. Our mentors dedicate at least one hour per week to fostering personal growth, building character, and teaching life skills. Through these relationships, young men gain a stable, supportive presence that helps shape their futures.

Educational Workshops and Courses:

We host workshops on leadership, financial literacy, etiquette, health, and career development. Programs like the Gentlemen’s Development Academy teach essential skills for personal and professional success, ensuring that young men are prepared for life’s challenges.

Community Engagement Activities:

Through initiatives like the Summer Reading Challenge, AFGM BBQ Battle, and the annual 5K Walk/Run, we bring mentees, mentors, and community members together. These events not only build a sense of belonging but also reinforce the importance of collaboration and shared purpose.

Professional Development and Mentorship Expansion:

We focus on equipping mentors with the tools they need to succeed through training sessions, such as our DISC-based leadership and mentoring programs. By developing our mentors, we ensure they can provide the highest level of guidance and support.

Youth Empowerment Initiatives:

Programs like AFGM Smiles of Hope and car maintenance courses for youth focus on practical, hands-on experiences that teach independence, problem-solving, and compassion for others.

Faith-Driven Values:

Our core values—spirituality, health, integrity, leadership, development, and stewardship (S.H.I.E.L.D.S.)—are woven into every aspect of our programming, ensuring that all we do aligns with our mission of holistic empowerment.

Each of these programs and activities reflects our unwavering commitment to inspiring the next generation of leaders while fostering positive change within families and communities. Together, we’re shaping futures, one young man at a time.
