The SOFEI Group is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower women in the Washington region to emerge (to rise from an obscure or inferior position or condition) from economic instability through education, training, and development.

The SOFEI Group is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower women of the Washington D.C. region to emerge. The SOFEI Group helps women take control of their education, career, and finances to create stability for themselves and their families.

We focus on women experiencing situational poverty (economic instability) due to divorce, spousal abandonment, illness, job loss, caregiving, or domestic violence. Since 1999, we have helped women gain career, entrepreneurial, and financial skills to create their pathways to economic independence.  

We provide a twelve-step plan to foster economic growth, career assessments for women re-entering the workforce or transitioning to a new career, professional and workplace development training for women seeking to enhance their skills to advance their careers, business development training for women who want to launch or sustain a lucrative business, and IT certification training and testing for women seeking career opportunities in the IT industry.

The SOFEI Group is an authorized testing center for Microsoft, and we provide online certification, workforce, and professional training for self-directed learners via sofeionline.org. (to rise from an obscure or inferior position or condition) from economic instability through education, training, and development.
