Volunteer: Volunteers Needed: District of PRIDE Showcase at Lincoln Theatre

The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs (MOLGBTQA) is excited to welcome volunteers for this year’s District of Pride Showcase on Wednesday, June 17.

This annual celebration honors two decades of LGBTQIA+ leadership, visibility, and cultural impact in the District—and volunteers play a key role in making the evening shine.

MOLGBTQA is seeking eight (8) volunteers to support essential event operations, including:

Set‑up & decorating — preparing the venue and creating a welcoming atmosphere

Registration & seating support — greeting guests, assisting at the door, and guiding attendees inside the theater

Breakdown assistance — helping close out the event smoothly and efficiently

Two volunteer shifts are available: 4:00–8:00 PM, 5:00–9:00 PM

A celebration that will transform the National Mall with state and territory pavilions celebrating all 56 states and territories, specialty exhibits, live performances, interactive experiences, and classic fair attractions. Educational exhibits and immersive digital experiences will bring the Story of America to life for guests of all ages.
Washington, D.C., will activate at the Great American State Fair with an immersive pavilion designed to celebrate our city. Through interactive art walls and engaging activities, DC invites visitors to connect with what makes the nation's capital truly special. We'd love to have you volunteer at the Washington, DC pavilion - help us make this once-in-a-generation event a success.


Volunteers will assist in the following:

• Engagement with the visitors
• Assisting with the art walls
• Pushpin world maps, pedals of positivity, & cherry blossom tree
• Conduct giveaways

We're looking for 3 volunteers for each shift.

Shift Dates:  6/25/26-7/10/26

On June 19, 2026, Ward 7 will serve as the flagship city for Opal’s Walk for Freedom — honoring the legacy of Ms. Opal Lee and celebrating five years of Juneteenth as a federal holiday — followed by our second annual parade along the historic Branch Avenue corridor.

We’re looking for at least 50 volunteers to help us make this celebration safe, joyful, and unforgettable. Whether you support Opal’s Walk, assist with parade assembly, serve as a route marshal, or help with post-event clean-up, your presence makes this possible.

Peer reviewers will receive formal training from Serve DC’s National Service Team and be assigned 2-3 applications to review and score. Peer reviewers are invaluable in ensuring Serve DC identifies programs that enrich the lives of residents across our great city.   If you are interested in supporting local nonprofit organizations, grant management, or bolstering community service efforts in DC, volunteering as a peer reviewer for the 2025-26 AmeriCorps Formula Funding application process is a perfect opportunity for you!  Sign up here to here to get started.
