DC Food Rescue is looking for volunteers to deliver food donations! You'll use your own car or bike (with sizeable transport capacity) to pick up bags of food donated by a cafe in Georgetown and deliver that food to Charlie's Place, an organization that provides meals to people experiencing homelessness, in Dupont Circle.
The food needs to be picked up any time between 8:30am and 10:30am on Fridays and delivered directly to Charlie's Place. From start to finish, this food rescue should take less than one hour. It's a quick and simple way to save food that would otherwise go to waste, while supporting our neighbors.
Once you register as a DC Food Rescue volunteer, you'll find all the information that you need in our food rescue portal. You can sign up to do this rescue on a weekly basis ("adopting" it) or claim individual shifts as is convenient.
