Sustainable DC volunteers and volunteer Fix-It DC coaches are critical for the success of the Department of Energy and Environment's (DOEE's) programs and for meeting the District's sustainability goals.
As a token of our appreciation, DOEE has partnered with Living Classrooms to organize an activity on Kingman and Heritage Islands. Attendees have the option of selecting the paddling activity or an island tour. Both activities will be filled on a first come, first served basis and have a maximum group size.
The paddling activity will include a 15 minute safety overview, 45-60 minutes of paddling on the water and collecting debris, and a 15-20 minute trash sort of the debris collected. The tour activity will remain on-shore and include information about the history and plants of the islands.
Attendees are welcome to stay after the activities for light refreshments.
Registration closes on October 20, 11:59 pm. Volunteers for District programs outside of Sustainable DC and Fix-It DC are also welcomed to attend.
