Mission
Positive Chalk DC (PCDC) contributes to DC's communities by creating brave spaces for families, and particularly children, to imagine their communities in new ways, inspire positive change, and develop the language necessary to advocate for themselves and their communities.
PCDC seeks to remove barriers children in the District face when engaging in advocacy and education by bringing an accessible and affordable resource directly to communities that are under resourced and overwhelmed with trauma caused by police brutality, gun violence, mass incarceration, drugs, and other systemic issues.
Founding
Positive Chalk DC was created to engage and empower children in the movement following the murder of George Floyd. We wanted to provide a positive outlet for children in communities East of the river to process what was happening in the world.
Since 2020, PCDC has become more than a tool for advocacy but a resource for the betterment of the community. PCDC has participated in nearly 100 events across the region and engaged over 4,500 residents. We have collaborated with numerous Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, non-profits, local leaders and government agencies.
